Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Encode text or files to Base64, or decode Base64 back to text. Supports URL-safe mode and file preview.

This base64 encoder and decoder covers both everyday text conversion and binary file encoding in one place. In the Text tab, typing in either panel updates the other live — plain text becomes Base64 as you type, and pasted Base64 decodes back to text automatically, with a URL-safe toggle that swaps +, /, and padding characters for the variant used in tokens and query strings. The File tab accepts drag-and-drop or a file picker, reads any file type into a Base64 string, and shows an inline image preview when the file is a picture. It's useful for developers embedding small assets as data URIs, debugging API payloads, or decoding Base64 blobs found in logs or config files. All encoding and decoding happens using the browser's native btoa/atob and FileReader APIs, so nothing is uploaded.

How to Use Base64

  1. Switch between the "Text ↔ Base64" and "File → Base64" tabs depending on what you need.
  2. Type or paste plain text on the left, or paste Base64 on the right — the other side updates automatically.
  3. Enable "URL-safe mode" if you need a URL- or token-safe variant.
  4. For files, drag and drop a file onto the drop zone or click "Browse File".
  5. Click "Copy" to copy the result, or view the live image preview for image files.
